wo high school students from
Earth, Doyle Cleverlobe and Aimee Brightower, didn't know what
to expect when they were chosen to attend Galaxy High School,
a place of learning for beings from all over the galaxy. The
school was located on the asteroid Flutor, and provided an
education for a truly diverse student body, ranging from
individuals who somewhat resembled humans to others that
looked like nothing more than a gob of goo.
Although Doyle was a star athlete
who had been popular back on Earth, he had a tough time fitting
in at Galaxy High. His usual charm and self confidence seemed to
do him no good. To make matters worse, when he arrived at the
school he was informed that because his grades were so terrible
he would have to work part time at Luigi's Lunar Pizza Parlor –
a popular hangout for the high school crowd – to help pay for
his tuition. One of the few friends Doyle was initially able to
make was class president Milo De Venus, who also worked at the
pizza parlor. Milo resembled a human but had six arms, which he
put to good use making pizzas at lightening speed when he wasn’t
helping Doyle wait tables.
Aimee's experience in her new
surroundings was more positive than Doyle's. On Earth Aimee
had been the smartest girl in school, but her popularity
suffered. At Galaxy High she learned that her grades had
earned her a full scholarship as well as a new car (space
vehicle), and she gained a close group of friends in no
time. Her closest friends were Booey Bubblehead, a
clear-headed girl (because her head was empty) who had a
tough time staying focused or remembering what was
happening; Gilda Gossip had four tentacles extending from
the top of her head that each had a mouth attached, all of
them taking turns spilling the latest gossip; and Wendy
Garbo was a fashionable girl with an eye for the boys. Aimee
was closely followed everywhere by The Creep, a little,
yellow flying ball of fur (or maybe he was covered in
feathers) who got his name because of the obsessive crushes
he developed for the female students.
Doyle quickly got on the bad side
of the school bully, Beef Bonk, and his two friends, Rotten
Ronald (who liked to toss rotten eggs) and Earl Eccchhh (a
sentient pile of ooze). Beef was big, strong, had a bad temper
and took every opportunity to give Doyle grief. He even wore a
shirt with the phrase "Earth Stinks!!" to show how much he hated
Earth boys. Things may not have been so bad for Doyle if he
hadn't felt the need to constantly get even with Beef, pulling
pranks that just earned him additional attention from the Bonk
Bunch.
A few
other notable characters were homeroom teacher Ms. McBrain, who
had what looked like a light bulb attached to the back of her
head that lit up when she got an idea; Professor Icenstein came
from the planet Froster and had to keep his classroom at a
freezing temperature or he would melt; Coach Frogface thought
flies were tasty; female gym teacher Katrina resembled a
centaur; and the reliable taxi driver Ollie Oilslick was
available when the kids needed a ride. |
